Tronex Cares — COASTSWEEP
Each year in Massachusetts a statewide coastal cleanup is held as part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup. Volunteers from around the world come together to collect and analyze marine debris to clean up the beaches and develop policy initiatives to help reduce debris in the future. Tronex is proud to sponsor important environmental initiatives like COASTSWEEP and provide support by donating gloves so volunteers can stay protected while collecting and analyzing marine debris.
Our View on Sustainability With Mr. Donald L. Chu, President & CEO
1. What does it mean to be sustainable?
“To me, it’s a responsibility. Forward-thinking companies know that they have a tremendous impact on the environment and an important responsibility to the local, national, and global communities that they affect. By implementing sustainable practices today and focusing on new eco-friendly solutions for tomorrow, our sincere hope is that the next generation will benefit. That’s the goal we’re trying to achieve in all facets of our business: ensuring future generations will inherit a better world and be free to create.”
2. How does being sustainable bring value to business?
“Being sustainable is invaluable. The reality is that, by being more efficient, we are able to streamline and create overall reductions. We continually seek areas in which we can improve efficiencies, conserve resources, and, in turn, decrease time, costs, and waste — all while helping the environment. The whole concept of sustainability helps us to think and operate differently, as opposed to the status quo. This is critically important for any company, as it inspires innovation throughout our business — from using advanced materials during the manufacturing process to improving upon cost savings for our valued customers. The challenge of being more cost efficient is also a catalyst for innovation, which turns out to be sustainable as well.”
